Rantings, Raves and Ramblings
How was your night?

Heads Up, Huggers,

Like a dog just out of a bath, I'm shaking off Saturday night.....Insert your own punchline here.....You know things are bad when you see a limo driver copping an attitude.....They're supposed to be courteous and gentlemanly, right?.....Not this one I saw last night.....Illegally parked and with his brights on.....Sheesh!.....A security guard from a nearby nightclub asked him to please turn down the brights.....Asked him nicely.....To put it politely, he didn't.....I can see a celebrity acting like that, but a limo driver? Puh-leez!.....When the Carribean man suddenly saw a parking enforcement car nearby, he suddenly had a change of heart.....I've only run into a few Carribeans, but they don't seem to be terribly bright people.....Or nice.....Howard Stern jokes about and argues with Carribeans all the time.....He and Robin Quivers seem to have the same opinion about them.....When I see a nice, intelligent one, I'll mention it.....I haven't yet.....And before you say it, Harry Belafonte, whom I respect greatly, is a New York City native.....As Casey Stengel would have said, you can look it up.....A group of about 5 or 6 cholos tried to hit on my friends and I, 4 of us.....They're not terribly bright people either.....They probably didn't have $10 between them.....No club on the Strip would have let them in if they did.....And even if we were stupid enough to fall for their lame, overused, stupid pick-up lines.....Where were they going to put us if they were filling up their own car?.....Morons.....There seems to be an awful lot of people of all types who live up to their negative stereotypes, and it's too bad.....You just keep on giving Bill Cosby new material.....As we were crossing the street, two rednecks in a pickup truck honked at us.....They HAD to be from out of town.....You just don't see that in L.A. much, if at all.....Anyway, the passenger-side Zeke stuck his head out the window and yelled "Hey girls, where's the party?".....As if we haven't heard that one at least 1,689 times before.....My friend Connie yells back "It's a private party! You need an engraved invitation! Check your mailbox!".....They drove on silently.....I love Connie, she fears nothing and no one.....On the plus side, I had a chance encounter with a down-the-street neighbor at one of the clubs.....Long story short, she struck me as very snooty, unfriendly.....We've passed each other a lot, without as much as a hello.....She comes up to me, says hello, and we start chatting amicably.....Turns out she's actually very nice, just very reserved, that's all.....See what can happen when you just sit down and talk?.....MIsunderstandings are gone.....Wars could be prevented.....It boggles the mind!.....Eddie the bartender, a longtime fixture at one of the clubs, is the greatest unlicensed psychologist in the world.....I always feel better after talking to him.....Even if I'm feeling good already.....It was he who encouraged me to try blogging.....Everyone should be blessed with an Eddie the bartender in their lives.....Song I can't get out of my head: Dance Hall Days, Wang Chung.....One complaint I have about LA: many nightclubs, but few if any dance halls or ballrooms.....Most nightclubs are loud and overcrowded.....And they're designed to be like that.....I would love to play a grown-up version of dress-up and go to a nice, lower-key ballroom.....I would probably dance with anyone who asked.....And, I like big-band music.....It would certainly be a nice change of pace.....Seems to me that people who complain about police harassment mostly want to harass people without the cops getting in their way.....How's that for a shift of gears?.....I'm tired of being the designated driver.....I rarely drink, that's why I always get the DD gig.....ALWAYS drive safely!.....And buckle your damn seat belts!

Happy New Month, Til next time, byeee! As Always, Anne Alogy
