Rantings, Raves and Ramblings
More thoughts.....

Hello Again,

Finally, a moment to myself.....I won't harp too much on this, but Big Bad Voodoo Daddy had the Hollywood Bowl jumping last night.....The LA Philharmonic Orchestra was awesome, as always.....Combine the two, and you've got some incredible sound.....The 17,000 seat Bowl was about three-quarters filled.....The latest issue of Rolling Stone reports that summer concert season ticket sales have been dismal.....Even Clear Channel, entertainment's Evil Empire, has lowered prices at some venues to as little as $10.....Lordy, how they'll gouge you at the concession stand!.....Beer, $8-$12, Coca-Cola, $4, T-shirts, $25-$40, hot dog, $5.....Saving your money: Priceless!.....I want to see the mansion the concessionaire is living in.....Speaking of homes, while standing in line during intermission, I inadvertently learned the home address of Paris & Nicky Hilton.....I was shocked, because it's not in such an upscale area as you would naturally think.....Anyone can drive by there, and who knows, you might actually see them going in or out.....You'd be surprised what celebs are actually listed in the phone book, more and bigger than you might think.....It's hot in LA today.....Harpo is my favorite Marx Brother.....Without saying a word, he somehow became the darling of the intellectual set.....I guess actions do speak louder than words.....I always cracked up when he started chasing girls.....I'd let him chase me, and I'd love it!.....HONK-HONK!!.....His ashes were reportedly scattered in a sand trap at a Palm Springs golf course.....His widow died about six months ago.....Last add Harpo: He could have had a very successful solo career if he had so chosen, except for a few TV appearances and commercials, he chose not to.....The question isn't how big would the Marx Brothers be today? The question is how big ARE the Marx Bros. today?.....Ditto W.C. Fields, Laurel & Hardy and The Three Stooges.....Still hard to imagine that Buddy Hackett's gone.....Club Forty Deuce, on Melrose at Gower, is almost worth a trip to LA by itself.....The house band & dancers have been on TV several times.....Must be seen to be believed fully.....A new version of Forty Deuce is being planned for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.....Can club owner Ivan Kane say "KA-CHING!"?.....Naw, he's got assistants to do that for him.

Thanks for reading. As Always, Anne Alogy

will be looking for the club at Mandalay Bay (though, to go there, I have to violate the locals' rule of: "Don't go near the strip").

Still hard to imagine that Buddy Hackett's gone.....

shonuff the truth anne.  this morning i was commenting on another blog about lenny bruce and was reminded of my favorite lenny bruce adventures in which buddy was a participant (bruce would call up the musician's union and have them send horn players to his room and have them perform for whomever was there...at scale).

sounds like you had a great bowl night.

can the hilton's address be less upscale than dennis hopper's (not that he doesnt have a really cool place but..) ?

*Vanessa/mig XX, Thank you very much! My parents always tried to teach me to leave a good first impression! I'll look foward to reading you, also. Whether you disagree or agree with past, present or future writings of mine, I hope that you find them readable.

*Gideon, When you see the Mandalay Bay version of Forty Deuce, I guaran-damn-tee that you'll enjoy it! Don't worry about going near the strip, the new monorail should be broken in by then, and you can make a quick escape!

*Kingbee, Your Lenny Bruce story is a classic! For some reason, I'll always remember Buddy Hackett playing Lou Costello and Harvey Korman playing Bud Abbott in a TV biopic.
The night at the Bowl sure beat being Designated Driver again. I can almost predict what my friends are going to say, when they'll say it, and where they'll say it. Monotonous, isn't it?
What really shocked me about the Hiltons' address is that it's on a very heavily-traveled street, a very dark, thick line on the Thomas Bros. map, and not a secluded, quiet, tree-lined, thin map line street or cul-de-sac. I don't know about Dennis Hopper's place, so I can't comment on that, but I'm always glad to get your input, King.

Thank you all, As Always, Anne
