Rantings, Raves and Ramblings
A rogues's gallery

Hello Again,

This is a list of people who made people miserable, caused needless suffering, or held up progress. If you're not familiar with a listed name, a search is congenially recommended. As usual, the list is subjective, you may not agree with everything, and later I may think of someone I should have listed, but what the hey? The rogues' gallery:

Adolf Hitler.....Avery Brundage.....Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis.....Joseph McCarthy.....Breckenridge Long.....Idi Amin.....Monique Berloux.....Joseph Goebbels.....Josef Stalin.....Spiro Agnew.....Charles Comiskey.....Kenneth Lay.....Roy Cohn.....Benito Mussolini.....Max Rafferty.....OJ Simpson.....Heinrich Himmler.....John Mitchell.....Will Hayes.....Charles Manson.....Che Guevara.....Ty Cobb.....Robert S. McNamara.....Moammar Ghadafi.....John Wayne Gacy.....Warren Harding.....Adolph Eichmann.....Fidel Castro.....Marie Antoinette.....Bull Connor.....Jeffrey Skilling.....Adrian "Cap" Anson.....Francoise "Papa Doc" Duvalier.....Jeffrey Dahmer....."Chainsaw" Al Dunlap.....Herman Goehring.....Jerry Falwell.....Osama Bin Laden.....Ted Bundy.....J. Edgar Hoover.....Jack Warner.....Hideki Tojo.....Susan Atkins.....Roger B. Smith.....Lord Haw Haw.....Yasir Arafat.....George Preston Marshall.....Enos "Country" Slaughter.....Albert Speer.....Ferdinand Marcos.....Jerry Reinsdorf.....Terry Rakolta.....Patricia Krenwinkle.....Hirohito.....G. Gordon Liddy.....Ayatollah Khomeni.....Rev. Donald Wildmon.....Tomas de Torquemada.....Stokely Carmichael.....Leslie Van Houten.....Ben Johnson.....Jim Valvano.....Richard Hickok.....Perry Smith.....Magda Goebbels.....Bowie Kuhn.....H. Rap Brown.....Bernadine Dorn.....Charles "Tex" Watson.....Chiang Kai-chek.....Jim Bakker.....Saddam Hussein.....Lyndon Johnson.....Imelda Marcos.....Mark David Chapman.....Robert Bardo.....Eva Braun.....Charles Keating.....William Randolph Hearst.....Dr. James Dobson.....Strom Thurmond.....Bud Selig.....Donald "Cinque" De Freeze.....Sara Jane Olson.....Eric Harris.....Dylan Kliebold.

Anne, you are a goddess! I am so glad that BOTH KM Landis and Bud Selig made your list (I have repeatedly referenced Selig as "the worst commissioner since Landis").

*Gideon, thank you kindly, and we couldn't agree more! Bowie Kuhn, however, was a stinker in his own right, and perhaps I should have considered listing Ford Frick, who reportedly wanted to bring back the Negro Leagues. Before becoming Commissioner, Frick had been a longtime Landis flunky. Happy Chandler is baseball's most unsung hero, ever.

Thank you, Gideon. As Always, Anne

Can i add a few?

PW Botha...Josef Mengele....Richard Ramirez...Henry Ford...Rush Limbaugh...George Steinbrenner...And Eric Rudolph.

BTW Anne, Fabulous post!

I have no idea who Lord Haw Haw is....

my addons:

Harvey Matusow, George Armstrong Custer

*thatoneguy, Good additions, mostly, but 1) I thought about listing Henry Ford, but late in his life, he tried to make up for some of his earlier antics and escapades, and succeeding generations of his family have tried to do a lot of good.
2) Forgive me, but the Yankees are my second-favorite team behind the Angels! I think George is a great owner. There are owners far richer than him in baseball, but they apparently don't care like Mr. Steinbrenner does. I think he takes a bum rap in the press.
Good adds otherwise!
Lord Haw Haw was a British subject who did propaganda broadcasts for Nazi Germany during WW2. After the war, he was tried & executed. A good read for history buffs.
Thank you for the nice compliment. --AA

*Gideon, In middle school, high school & some old movies, Custer is portrayed as darn near heroic. In college, a professor I had portrayed him as a complete moron! Since college is deemed higher education, I will tend to believe the good professor! Good adds, and as always happens when I make a list, I always think of someone I should have listed later on. Briefly, if I may, I should have listed, among others, Timothy Leary, Martin Bormann & the first leader of North Korea, whose name escapes me right now.
Thank you again, Gideon.

great list anne (as always!)  i saw several names that i initially felt undeserving of the dishonor but after taking into consideration your criteria (they all made people miserable--for better or worse i guess), i agree.  off with their heads!

hmmm where's robespierre?

*Kingbee, thank you, as always! I'm guessing Robespierre is eating cake, or eating something, with Marie Antonnette!
Don't ever lose your sense of humor, King. I think it's great!
