Hello Again,

To a certain JU blogger, you know who the Hell you are: those who take the highest road have the longest, hardest fall to take.....Drive, he said, but for God's sake, watch where you're going.....Didn't mean to get esoteric on anyone, but it had to be said.....I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like the 2004-05 NHL season is over before it gets a chance to start.....Dammit.....I still haven't caught a flying puck or a foul ball.....Buying one at the concession stand doesn't quite cut it.....I can take heat, verbal or weather-type, but humidity is another matter altogether.....Former major league umpires Rich Garcia and Dave Pallone may have been the worst umps ever.....Pallone admitted after his firing that he used to start arguments with star players so that he could watch himself on TV later kicking them out of the game.....Good fucking riddance to them both.....Update: Ivan Kane's Club Forty Deuce opening at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas scheduled for mid-October.....A pleasant time is guaranteed for all.....And of course, Henry the Horse dances the waltz.....Sorry, I couldn't resist.....A woman who lives a few blocks away suffers from Bipolar disorder.....She walks around all day, taking recievers at phone booths off their hooks, and letting them hang.....She's around 60.....You can tell she's been around by all the pay phone recievers hanging.....She's never worked a day in her life.....She lives alone in a beautiful house worth at least $1 million.....She's worth at least $10 million, thanks to her parents and a well-to-do ex.....I'm not close to 1/1000 of that, and I've worked virtually all my adult life.....Where did I go wrong?.....Mary Poppins was the greatest G-rated movie, ever.....True trivia: John Lennon was inspired to write Do You Want to Know a Secret? after seeing Fantasia.....If a man left me for CNN's Dana Bash, I think I would understand.....What well known rapper recently asked a saxophone player what his instrument was called?.....Clue: perhaps he should call someone other than himself Doctor.

Thanks for reading. As Always, Anne Alogy

A woman who lives a few blocks away suffers from Bipolar disorder.....She walks around all day, taking recievers at phone booths off their hooks, and letting them hang

From high to low. From euphoria to depression. From recklessness to listlessness. These are the extremes associated with bipolar disorder, which can be a serious and disabling mental illness. The condition is also known as manic-depression or manic-depressive illness — from manias on the one extreme to depression on the other.

Bipolar disorder affects more than 2 million American adults, or about 1 percent of the population age 18 and older. It often begins in adolescence or early adulthood and may persist throughout life.

Its causes are elusive, and there's no cure. The flares of bipolar disorder may last for weeks or months, causing great disturbances in the lives of those affected, their friends and their families. Left untreated, the condition usually worsens. But it can be managed with medications and other therapies.

.....I still haven't caught a flying puck or a foul ball

Two words: Batting practice.

One of my favorite moments at old County Stadium in Milwaukee (where they filmed "Major League"...Uecker MADE that movie), was sitting with my wife in the cheap seats, and a ball came cruising off the end of Griffey's bat right smack into our section (being a Griffey fan at the time, I had, of course, positioned us properly in the RF bleachers). So, while it wasn't actually in a game, I can honestly say I caught a ball Griffey hit.

*King, of the early Beatles material, Little Child, Not a Second Time, You Can't Do That & a song they never recorded, Bad To Me, are among my faves. Bad To Me was farmed out to Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas. I would have loved to have heard John sing that one.
One time, I went to the Long Beach Blues Festival, and an R&B group, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, did a great rendition of Little Child. They had the place rockin'! My only complaint about the Beatles' version is that it's waaay too short.
Not a Second Time has some of the most intense lyrics I've ever heard. You Can't Do That is very seductive, at least the way George Martin produced it. The Supremes(!) of all people, did a very lame cover version of it.

*Olikara, thanks for the link & info. Perhaps postings like yours and revelations like Jane Pauley's can help bring more awareness and, knock on wood, a cure to this mental mystery.

*Gideon, maybe you know this one already, a few years back, actor Charlie Sheen bought the entire left field bleacher seats at what was then called Anaheim Stadium for the express purpose of getting a baseball. Only he & a friend were sitting in those seats. Sure enough, not only were no home runs hit there, none were hit there during batting practice!
My actress friend Lorna goes to one Dodger game her whole life, and what happens? A foul ball flies gently right into her lap! She still has the baseball, autographed by Shawn Green, the man who hit it!
You weren't sitting in the cheap seats at County Stadium, you were in the Uecker seats! I think he's great!
